IDEO presents the Living Climate Change initiative

“Living Climate Change” is a hosted conversation at www.livingclimatechange.com where the future is explored through design thinking. On the eve of the United Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December 2009, the Living Climate Change initiative aims to expand the dialog beyond policy and national sacrifice to point toward new possibilities, moving the debate away from what we have to give up and toward what we can create.

Hosted by IDEO, a global design and innovation company, Living Climate Change Design is born from the conviction that design has a role to play in addressing the big challenges we face in business and society. As design thinkers, we aspire to shape the conversation by asking good questions and bring them to life by exploring possible solutions in an optimistic and real-world way.

Climate change is, of course, one of those big challenges. Countries are discussing the implications of moving toward reducing carbon emissions by as much as 80 percent by 2050. Living Climate Change asks design thinkers to imagine what life will be like in 20 or 30 years as we move along the path toward reduced carbon emissions, whether or not the goals are reached. Which behaviors will change and which will be preserved? This is a place to show, discuss, and share the most compelling and provocative thoughts and ideas.
